HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Matheis on the 
4occasion of his retirement as executive director of the Lincoln 
5Memorial Garden; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jim Matheis has worked at Lincoln Memorial Garden 
7for more than 30 years; he began his career as an intern in May 
8in 1980 while a student at Sangamon State University; he became 
9executive director of the garden in 1987; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Under Jim Matheis' leadership, Lincoln Memorial 
11Garden filled an important role in Sangamon County, providing 
12park space and educational programs while serving as a living 
13memorial to President Abraham Lincoln; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Matheis is a lifelong resident of Sangamon 
15County and a graduate of Sangamon State University; and

  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim Matheis' retirement concludes 30 years of 
17service to Lincoln Memorial Garden, but is undoubtedly another 
18step in his role as a leader in Springfield and Sangamon 
19County; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we congratulate Jim Matheis on his retirement and wish him well 
3in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to Jim Matheis as an expression of our esteem and 
6respect.
