HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Jashira Bolden of 
4Belleville for being named one of the top two youth volunteers 
5in Illinois for 2013 in the Prudential Spirit of Community 
6Award program; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Award, 
8presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the 
9National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors 
10young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an 
11extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; the 
12award is designed to emphasize the importance our nation places 
13on service to others and to encourage all young Americans to 
14contribute to their communities; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, As a State Honoree, Jashira Bolden received a 
16$1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion, and a trip to 
17Washington, D.C. on May 4-7, 2013 during a series of national 
18recognition events; and

  
 
19    WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength 
20of our communities, and the overall vitality of American 
21society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young 
22people like Jashira Bolden, who use their considerable talents

1and resources to serve others; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate and honor Jashira Bolden for being named one of 
5the top two youth volunteers in Illinois for 2013 in the 
6Prudential Spirit of Community Award program, recognize her 
7outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and 
8community spirit, and extend our best wishes for her continued 
9success and happiness in the future; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Jashira Bolden as a symbol of our respect and 
12esteem.
