| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to recognize Bettie Marie |
| 4 | | Kirschner of Streamwood for her service during World War II; |
| 5 | | and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner was born on May 17, 1924, in |
| 7 | | Grand Rapids, Michigan, to William and Ottlie Roubinek; she |
| 8 | | enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 31, 1944, and served as a |
| 9 | | Pharmacist's Mate Third Class (PhM3c) until October 18, 1945, |
| 10 | | in San Diego, California; she took care of the wounded being |
| 11 | | brought back from the Pacific Theater; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner is very proud of her service to |
| 13 | | her country during World War II and proudly flies the flag |
| 14 | | regularly; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner was married to a U.S. Army |
| 16 | | veteran, Richard, who she wed in 1946; they had 2 children, |
| 17 | | Lynn (Larry) Hutton and Glen (Pam) Kirschner, 5 grandchildren, |
| 18 | | and 4 great-grandchildren; she has resided in Streamwood for |
| 19 | | the last 30 years; she worked for Marshall Fields in downtown |
| 20 | | Chicago for many years and enjoys spending her vacations in |
| 21 | | Minnesota; and
