HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members  of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kirk's Pharmacy on 
4the 60th anniversary of its founding; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Kirk's Pharmacy was opened by Jim Kirkpatrick on 
6May 10, 1953, in his hometown of Christopher; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kirk's Pharmacy not only dispenses drugs, but at 
8times throughout the years, sold  items such as cosmetics, 
9photography supplies, jewelry, toys, and perfumes; in the past, 
10the store also had a  soda fountain that provided a hot spot for 
11local teens; and
  
 
  
12    WHEREAS, Jim Kirkpatrick still works at the pharmacy at the 
13age of 85 but leaves the day-to-day operations to pharmacist 
14Anita Hale, who has been with Kirk's Pharmacy for nearly 29 
15years; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim Kirkpatrick attributes the longevity of 
17Kirk's Pharmacy to personalized customer service and free 
18delivery; they have served generations of the same families; 
19therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we congratulate Kirk's Pharmacy on 60 years of serving the 
3community of Christopher and wish Jim Kirkpatrick many more 
4years of success; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Kirk's Pharmacy as an expression of our esteem and 
7respect.
