| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives have learned that Jimmy M. Lago, one of our |
| 4 | | State's longest serving social service leaders, is retiring |
| 5 | | from a distinguished career that benefitted people in every |
| 6 | | region of this State; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The career of Jimmy Lago carved a unique niche in |
| 8 | | that he worked for more than 40 years to advance the programs |
| 9 | | and policies of the Catholic Conference of Illinois, Catholic |
| 10 | | Charities, and the Archdiocese of Chicago as a lay person; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, His rise through the ranks of church positions and |
| 12 | | responsibilities saw him named Chancellor in 2000, a post never |
| 13 | | previously held by someone outside the clergy; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jimmy Lago always spoke with a conviction and |
| 15 | | eloquence that embraced the importance of the position and |
| 16 | | demonstrated a keen understanding of the role he played in |
| 17 | | maintaining quality social services in the State; and

| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jimmy Lago's expertise was recognized by many |
| 19 | | organizations, including the John Howard Association, the SOS |
| 20 | | Children's Village, TASC, and numerous gubernatorial and |
| 21 | | mayoral boards, commissions, and task forces; and
