| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the |
| 4 | | Glenbard South girls softball team for winning the IHSA Class 3 |
| 5 | | State Championship; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, After finishing the 2012 season as State |
| 7 | | Champions, the Glenbard South girls softball team lost 7 of its |
| 8 | | 9 starters to graduation, leaving the team to start a |
| 9 | | "rebuilding" year in 2013; striving to create their own |
| 10 | | identity, the team defied all expectations and captured the |
| 11 | | title through a combination of senior leadership and fresh |
| 12 | | talent; the team accomplished all of the goals they set the |
| 13 | | previous year, including 25 wins, a team batting average of |
| 14 | | .300 or higher, and victories at the Super-Sectionals and the |
| 15 | | Conference; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The Glenbard South girls softball team beat Alton |
| 17 | | Marquette 1-0 to secure victory at the IHSA Class 3 State |
| 18 | | Championship game; the team finished the season with a |
| 19 | | spectacular 31-5 record; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, The Glenbard South girls softball team's victory |
| 21 | | marks the program's second consecutive State championship and |
| 22 | | makes it the first program to win consecutive titles in either |

| 5 | | Gerhardt, Molly Hentges, Gianna Marra, Danielle Scarpiniti, |
| 6 | | Tarah Valdez, Stephanie Chitkowski, Madison Rankin, Hannah |
| 7 | | Taylor, and Jane Trzaska; the team's coaches are Julie |
| 8 | | Fonda-Smith, Kris Morton, Kristen Beckford-Wallace, Diana |
| 9 | | Fisher, Michelle Yudys, Jamie McPherin, and Lisa Morton; |

| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| 14 | | softball team for winning the IHSA Class 3 State Championship |
