| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Daisy Robinson on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of her 94th birthday on July 13, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Daisy Robinson studied piano, organ, and music | ||||||
| 6 | theory at Chicago Conservatory College and the Chicago Musical | ||||||
| 7 | College of Roosevelt University; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Daisy Robinson has been a dynamic musical | ||||||
| 9 | personality and influence nationally and in the Chicago area | ||||||
| 10 | for over 70 years; she began her musical career as an | ||||||
| 11 | accompanist for the Liberty Baptist Church of Chicago; she | ||||||
| 12 | subsequently expanded her musical horizons as an accompanist | ||||||
| 13 | for the Unity Foundation Choir of Unity Village in Kansas City, | ||||||
| 14 | Missouri; she also traveled extensively to churches and | ||||||
| 15 | university campuses throughout the United States as an | ||||||
| 16 | accompanist of noted folk singer and choir director Charles | ||||||
| 17 | King; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Following her work with Charles King, Daisy | ||||||
| 19 | Robinson went to Christ Universal Temple in Chicago, where she | ||||||
| 20 | worked with Dr. Johnnie Coleman and became Founder and Director | ||||||
| 21 | of The Youth Vibrations, a group of young singers; in 1977, | ||||||
| 22 | they were invited to travel to London, England, where they | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | performed at the Olympic Theatre for the First International | ||||||
| 2 | Metaphysical Conference; while in London, they also presented a | ||||||
| 3 | concert at Royal Albert Hall; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Daisy Robinson has arranged and published 2 books | ||||||
| 5 | of spirituals with motivational lyrics adapted for children; | ||||||
| 6 | and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Daisy Robinson was the founder, owner, and | ||||||
| 8 | director of Melody Way Music Studio on Stony Island Avenue in | ||||||
| 9 | Chicago from 1963 to 1989; she also presented "A Fantasy in | ||||||
| 10 | Fashion and Music", a production chaired by the noted Chicago | ||||||
| 11 | Sun-Times columnist Irv Kupcinet; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Daisy Robinson's 94th | ||||||
| 13 | birthday will be held on July 13, 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist | ||||||
| 14 | Church in Chicago; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate Daisy Robinson on the occasion of her 94th | ||||||
| 18 | birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to come; and | ||||||
| 19 | be it further

| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Daisy Robinson as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
