HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Not one motorcycle, on-road, off-road, or off-highway vehicle has ever been tested for E-15 usage; no motorcycle manufacturer presently advocates the use of any fuel higher than E-10; and

WHEREAS, Studies by the Chicago-based National Marine Manufacturers Association, which covers the boating industry, and the Washington, D.C.-based Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, which covers the small engine industry, has concluded that E-15 is very detrimental to those motors; and

WHEREAS, Fourteen auto manufacturers say that using E-15 in their vehicles may void their warranties and only 2 of those manufacturers say that using E-15 will not affect warranties in some 2012 and newer models; and

WHEREAS, The AAA currently advises their 53 million members not to use E-15 until current issues and concerns are addressed; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Congress to pass H.R. 875 to scientifically determine the effects that E-15 will have on internal combustion engines of all types; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the Speaker and Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, the Majority and Minority Leaders of the United States Senate, and the members of the Illinois congressional delegation.
