HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the McHenry County 
4Historical Society and Museum on the 50th anniversary of its 
5founding; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum 
7provides county residents with invaluable information about 
8family history, business history, and property, building, and 
9site preservation; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum 
11was the leading force behind the passage of McHenry County's 
12historic preservation ordinance and has restored several 
13historic buildings in McHenry County, including the Gannon Log 
14Cabin, built in 1843, and the Pringle School, built in 1867; 
15and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum 
17has co-published 2 local histories, "McHenry County in the 
18Twentieth Century" (1994) and "Historic County Schools of 
19McHenry County" (2008), and maintains a research library open 
20for public use; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum

1is housed in the former Union School, built in 1870, and hosts 
2more than 3,000 local students annually for historical 
3education programs; therefore, be it
  
 
  
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the McHenry County Historical Society and 
7Museum on its 50th anniversary; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the officers of the McHenry County Historical 
10Society and Museum as an expression of our esteem and respect.
