| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Nancy C. Davis on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of her retirement as Executive Director of the | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois Court Reporters Association after 20 years; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Nancy Davis served as the Executive Director from | ||||||
| 7 | 1993-2013; she was a co-founder of the original court reporters | ||||||
| 8 | association in the State of Illinois, and has devoted her time | ||||||
| 9 | to advancing and promoting the profession of Court Reporting; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Nancy Davis, as Executive Director, was | ||||||
| 12 | responsible for providing accurate information and advice to | ||||||
| 13 | members, students, court reporting instructors, and court | ||||||
| 14 | reporting schools; she acted as mentor to numerous court | ||||||
| 15 | reporting students and beginning court reporters; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Nancy Davis is a former President of the Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | Shorthand Reporters Association; she was a United States | ||||||
| 18 | District Court Official Court Reporter, the owner of a | ||||||
| 19 | freelance firm in Louisiana, a court reporting and program | ||||||
| 20 | director for Midstate College, a National Court Reporters | ||||||
| 21 | Association Evaluator, a certified reporting instructor, and a | ||||||
| 22 | Chief Examiner for the National Court Reporters Association | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | certification testing; she has been a member of various | ||||||
| 2 | National Court Reporters Association committees for many years | ||||||
| 3 | and is an Illinois Court Reporters Association Distinguished | ||||||
| 4 | Service Award Winner; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Nancy Davis has served with distinction, | ||||||
| 6 | providing diligence, knowledge, and sharing her expertise with | ||||||
| 7 | many others; through her dedication, she has been the primary | ||||||
| 8 | participant in advancing the Illinois Court Reporters | ||||||
| 9 | Association to where it is now, one of the premiere state court | ||||||
| 10 | reporting associations in the country; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Nancy Davis planned the very first Illinois Court | ||||||
| 12 | Reporters Association Convention; at this year's convention on | ||||||
| 13 | September 20, 2013, she will be honored for her many years of | ||||||
| 14 | service; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate Nancy C. Davis on the occasion of her | ||||||
| 18 | retirement as Executive Director of the Illinois Court | ||||||
| 19 | Reporters Association; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Nancy Davis as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 22 | respect.
