HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Sarah Meisels on the 
4occasion of her retirement as Director of the Wheaton Public 
5Library on September 30, 2013; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Sarah Meisels has served as Director of the 
7Wheaton Public Library for 35 years; she began her career at 
8the Library in 1966 as a reference librarian; she subsequently 
9served as Assistant to the Director before assuming the role of 
10Director in 1978; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, As Director, Sarah Meisels has guided the Wheaton 
12Public Library through many significant technological changes 
13while maintaining a collection of outstanding resources and 
14providing many outstanding services to the people of Wheaton; 
15under her direction, the Library has offered thousands of 
16programs for every age group in the Wheaton area and has gone 
17through a massive renovation project in 2007 that doubled the 
18size of the library; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, During Sarah Meisels' tenure as Director, the 
20Wheaton Public Library was designated as one of the "Top Ten 
21Libraries in the United States" in its population category and 
22as the "Best of the West" library in the western suburbs of

1Chicago; and

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Friends of the Wheaton Library will host a 
3community reception in honor of Sarah Meisels and her work at 
4the Library on September 8, 2013; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate Sarah Meisels on the occasion of her retirement 
8and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and 
9be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Sarah Meisels as a symbol of our esteem and 
12respect.
