HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Carol Bauer on the 
4occasion of receiving the "2013 Most Dedicated Blood Drive 
5Coordinator Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community 
6Blood Centers; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Carol Bauer has played a 
8significant role in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply 
9for her community through her efforts to promote blood 
10donation; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1993, Carol Bauer began her service as the 
12blood drive coordinator for the Village of Lombard on behalf of 
13Heartland Blood Centers; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Since that time, Carol Bauer has increased the 
15number of units collected by blood drives in the Village of 
16Lombard from double to triple digits; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Carol Bauer has successfully built partnerships 
18with local organizations and businesses to form blood donor 
19groups, who host their own blood drives in conjunction with 
20those of the Village; and

1    WHEREAS, Carol Bauer helps to heighten awareness of Village 
2blood drives by encouraging donors to sign up at community 
3events, such as weekly Car Cruise Nights, as well as through 
4Village press releases, water bill inserts, fire station 
5banners, cable television interviews, and even her e-mail 
6signature; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Following the untimely death of the late Lombard 
8Village President Mueller, who was a huge supporter of blood 
9donation, Carol Bauer organized an additional memorial blood 
10drive in his honor at 2 locations, bringing the number of blood 
11drives held in Lombard in the past year to 13; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Carol Bauer has served as the chairperson of 113 
13blood drives, which have collected 11,187 pints of blood; those 
14pints of blood have had the potential to save almost 33,600 
15lives; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, In 2013, Heartland Blood Centers nominated Carol 
17Bauer as the "Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator" in a 
18state-wide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of 
19Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
22we congratulate Carol Bauer for receiving the "2013 Most

1Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator Award", commend her for her 
2years of selfless service and commitment to the community, and 
3wish her continued success in promoting blood donations; and be 
4it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Carol Bauer as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
