HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to recognize Sam Frank of 
4Libertyville as he completes 50 years of volunteer service to 
5the National Ski Patrol; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The National Ski Patrol is a federally-chartered, 
7not-for-profit organization focused on snowsports safety; the 
8primary purpose of an individual patroller is the rescue and 
9care of injured skiers; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Sam Frank has been personally involved in the care 
11and rescue of thousands of injured skiers and snowboarders; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sam Frank's turf is Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin, 
13where he was Patrol Director of the largest ski patrol in the 
14world and is the Slope Leader for its busiest shift; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Sam Frank has received many awards over his long 
16volunteer career, including the Purple Merit Star for saving a 
17life, National Appointment #4612 for his leadership at all 
18levels of the National Ski Patrol, the Distinguished Service 
19Award #1300 for his continued support and involvement in the 
20National Ski Patrol, and the Outstanding Patroller Award; and

1    WHEREAS, Sam Frank's outstanding communication skills have 
2made him an incredible first aid, CPR, and wilderness survival 
3and rescue instructor; he is the lead person in charge of the 
4Outdoor Emergency Care program, a first-aid training program 
5with a focus on the outdoors, at a level comparable to an 
6Emergency Medical Technician; he has taught thousands of 
7students throughout the years; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Sam Frank is considered the 'elder statesman' of 
9the Patrol; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we recognize Sam Frank on 50 years of volunteer service to the 
13National Ski Patrol; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Sam Frank as an expression of our esteem and 
16respect.
