| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the owners and employees |
| 4 | | of the Air Methods Corporation on the occasion of the 25th |
| 5 | | anniversary of the organization's LIFESTAR Chicago program; |
| 6 | | and

| 7 | | WHEREAS, LIFESTAR Chicago is a critical care transport |
| 8 | | service owned and operated by the Air Methods Corporation; the |
| 9 | | service consists of a 24-hour, 7 day a week air medical service |
| 10 | | established to facilitate the rapid transport of critically ill |
| 11 | | or injured patients; and

| 12 | | WHEREAS, The history of LIFESTAR Chicago began in 1988, |
| 13 | | when a vendor contract was created to provide aircraft, pilots, |
| 14 | | and mechanics to Loyola University Medical Center; the program |
| 15 | | operated as a "Traditional Based" program, flying patients |
| 16 | | primarily back to Loyola University Medical Center; in 2003, |
| 17 | | the Air Methods Corporation of Peoria, Colorado took over as |
| 18 | | the vendor for Loyola University Medical Center; in 2007, the |
| 19 | | Loyola University Medical Center sold the LIFESTAR program to |
| 20 | | the Air Methods Corporation, which changed the program from a |
| 21 | | "Traditional Based" program to a "Community Based" program |
| 22 | | which flies patients from any hospital to any hospital; that |
| 23 | | same year, the LIFESTAR Chicago program was relocated to the |
