HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  the owners and employees 
4of the Air Methods Corporation on the occasion of the 25th 
5anniversary of the organization's LIFESTAR Chicago program; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, LIFESTAR Chicago is a critical care transport 
8service owned and operated by the Air Methods Corporation; the 
9service consists of a 24-hour, 7 day a week air medical service 
10established to facilitate the rapid transport of critically ill 
11or injured patients; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The history of LIFESTAR Chicago began in 1988, 
13when a vendor contract was created to provide aircraft, pilots, 
14and mechanics to Loyola University Medical Center; the program 
15operated as a "Traditional Based" program, flying patients 
16primarily back to Loyola University Medical Center; in 2003, 
17the Air Methods Corporation of Peoria, Colorado took over as 
18the vendor for Loyola University Medical Center; in 2007, the 
19Loyola University Medical Center sold the LIFESTAR program to 
20the Air Methods Corporation, which changed the program from a 
21"Traditional Based" program to a "Community Based" program 
22which flies patients from any hospital to any hospital; that 
23same year, the LIFESTAR Chicago program was relocated to the

1Joliet area; and

  
 
2    WHEREAS, For the last 25 years, LIFESTAR Chicago has 
3faithfully fulfilled its mission of providing safe and 
4professional air medical transportation services with the 
5highest level of quality and integrity in a community-based 
6setting; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate the owners and employees of the Air Methods 
10Corporation on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the 
11organization's LIFESTAR Chicago program and wish them 
12continued success and happiness in the future; and be it

14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the Air Methods Corporation  as a symbol of our 
16esteem and respect.
