HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Anne Wagner of 
4Downers Grove North High School on being crowned the 2013 
5homecoming queen; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Anne, called "Annie" by her friends, is known for 
7her bubbly personality and as a fan of Justin Bieber; she is a 
8senior at Downers Grove North High School; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, In 2012, Anne was diagnosed with leukemia; she 
10spent a significant amount of time in and out of the hospital 
11going through chemotherapy, and consequently missed more than  a 
12year-and-a-half of her sophomore and junior years of high 
13school; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Despite the diagnosis and several complications 
15during chemotherapy, Anne remained upbeat and positive 
16throughout her treatment, and was happy to return to high 
17school this fall; and
 
18    WHEREAS, When it came time to elect a homecoming queen, 
19Mary Doro, who has been friends with Anne since kindergarten, 
20knew there was no better candidate for the crown than Anne; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary launched a social media campaign through 
2sites such as Facebook and Twitter to bring attention to Anne's 
3story and highlight her courage and optimism; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, On September 27, 2013, Anne was crowned homecoming 
5queen of Downers Grove North High School; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Since winning the title of homecoming queen, Anne 
7has been admired as an inspiration across the State of 
8Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we recognize Anne Wagner for her heroic battle with leukemia, 
12and we congratulate her on being elected homecoming queen; and 
13be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Anne Wagner as an expression of our sincerest 
16respect and esteem.
