HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Downers Grove North High School has proven to be 
3comprised of an extremely supportive student body, as witnessed 
4by their election of Anne Wagner as their homecoming queen; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Students rallied around their fellow classmate 
6Anne after she was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012, making 
7visits to see her while she was in the hospital and sending her 
8text messages as she continued to recover at home; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, When Anne returned to school after having missed 
10most of her sophomore and junior years to undergo chemotherapy, 
11students went further in nominating Anne to homecoming court 
12and electing her to serve as their homecoming queen; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The support Downers Grove North students have 
14shown for their classmate is both remarkable and uplifting and 
15should be acknowledged and celebrated across the State of 
16Illinois; and

  
 
17    WHEREAS, Governor Pat Quinn proclaimed October 15, 2013 as 
18Downers Grove North High School Day in recognition of the 
19positive environment created by the school's students, 
20teachers, and administrators; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we recognize Downers Grove North High School as being inclusive 
4and supportive of all their students; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to 
6the Downers Grove North High School student body and Principal 
7Scott Kasik as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
