| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Donald L. Alford, Sr. on |
| 4 | | the occasion of his 30th anniversary as Senior Pastor of |
| 5 | | Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral in Hillside; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. was born and raised in Maywood; |
| 7 | | his parents are the late Dr. James Benjamin Alford, Sr. and |
| 8 | | Minnie Alford; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. is a lifelong member of the |
| 10 | | Progressive Church of God in Christ; his passion for the things |
| 11 | | of God began to manifest first in the music ministry, where his |
| 12 | | great music ability in the areas of traditional gospel music |
| 13 | | and praise and worship caused him to be recognized throughout |
| 14 | | the nation; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, After the passing of his father in 1983, Donald |
| 16 | | Alford, Sr. was appointed Pastor of Progressive Life-Giving |
| 17 | | Word Cathedral in Hillside; in June of 1995, he was ordained as |
| 18 | | an Apostle (Spiritual Overseer) at the church; he has |
| 19 | | subsequently served as Senior Pastor of Progressive |
| 20 | | Life-Giving Word Cathedral, where he has provided his |
| 21 | | congregation with spiritual guidance for the last 30 years; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. and his wife are the CEOs of |
| 2 | | Don-Glo Music and have written and produced several projects |
| 3 | | under this endeavor, including the platinum single, "All I |
| 4 | | Wanna Do Is Bless Your Name"; he has also written and produced |
| 5 | | many hits, including "Thank You" performed by the Thompson |
| 6 | | Community Singers, "Things Are Gonna Get Better" performed by |
| 7 | | Pastor Shirley Caesar, and "I Know What Prayer Can Do" |
| 8 | | performed by Dr. Ricky Dillard and Choir; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. is the author of "Don't Tell Me |
| 10 | | It's Too Late", a book of his struggles, disappointments, and |
| 11 | | victories; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. and his loving wife of 33 |
| 13 | | years, Gloria Windom-Alford, are the parents of 4 children, |
| 14 | | Donald II (Rasheeda), Stephon, Terrell, and Brianna, and the |
| 15 | | proud grandparents of 4 grandchildren, Dajia, Donald III, |
| 16 | | DeVaughn, and Jayla; therefore, be it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 | | we congratulate Donald L. Alford, Sr. on the occasion of his |
| 20 | | his 30th anniversary as Senior Pastor of Progressive |
| 21 | | Life-Giving Word Cathedral and wish him continued success and |
