HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to hear of the passing of Canton 
4Police Department K-9 Officer Halo Vom Haus Beal, and wish to 
5honor her contributions to the Department and the community; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Halo Vom Haus Beal was born on September 28, 2005; 
8she was assigned to Officer Matt Freehil and was trained at the 
9Illinois State Police K-9 Training Facility in Pawnee; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Halo became a member of the Canton Police 
11Department in February 2007; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, While serving the Canton community, Halo helped 
13take thousands of drugs off the streets and made hundreds of 
14arrests; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Halo's fellow officers said she was small in 
16stature, but possessed the heart of a lion; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Halo served her Department, the City of Canton, 
18and the surrounding communities faithfully and courageously; 
19and

1    WHEREAS, Hallo suffered a stroke from which she never fully 
2recovered; she passed away on October 14, 2013 and was laid to 
3rest in a private ceremony; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we honor Halo Vom Haus Beal for her courage and service to our 
7community; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Officer Matt Freehil and the Canton Police 
10Department as an expression of our respect and deepest 
11sympathies.
