| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to honor Pastor Melvin L. Moore, Sr. for | ||||||
| 4 | his work and service to his community; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. was born in Harvey and | ||||||
| 6 | raised in Markham; he attended Thornwood High School in South | ||||||
| 7 | Holland; he subsequently attended the Moody Bible Institute, | ||||||
| 8 | the Chicago Baptist Institute, where he earned a degree in | ||||||
| 9 | accounting, and St. Thomas Christian University, where he | ||||||
| 10 | received a Doctorate of Divinity; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. accepted his call into | ||||||
| 12 | the ministry at the age of 14 under Pastor C. L. Guyse at | ||||||
| 13 | Greater St. John Baptist Church in Markham; after serving for 2 | ||||||
| 14 | years as interim Pastor of Second Baptist Church, he served for | ||||||
| 15 | 10 years as Assistant Pastor of First Paradise M.B. Church in | ||||||
| 16 | Chicago under the late Pastor Eddie H. Gardner, Sr.; at the age | ||||||
| 17 | of 33, he was chosen to serve as pastor of Woodlawn Union | ||||||
| 18 | Baptist Church in Chicago; under Pastor Moore's leadership, the | ||||||
| 19 | church's membership increased from 25 to 200 members in less | ||||||
| 20 | than 2 years; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, After his 7th year at Woodlawn Union Baptist | ||||||
| 22 | Church, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. and his wife, Lady Moore, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | organized New Beginning Full Gospel Ministries, a thriving | ||||||
| 2 | ministry that is operating under an anointing where lives are | ||||||
| 3 | being changed; he has traveled across the United States | ||||||
| 4 | preaching the Word of God and teaching workshops and seminars; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. has been the host of a | ||||||
| 7 | very successful local radio program on WYCA-FM and a television | ||||||
| 8 | program on WJYS; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. served as second | ||||||
| 10 | assistant to the late Overseer of the Full Gospel Baptist | ||||||
| 11 | Church Fellowship (State of Illinois - Eastern District) for | ||||||
| 12 | many years before he was elevated to the position of District | ||||||
| 13 | Overseer for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship (State | ||||||
| 14 | of Illinois - Joshua District); therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we honor Dr. Melvin L. Moore, Sr. for his work and service to | ||||||
| 18 | his community and wish him continued success and happiness in | ||||||
| 19 | the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. as a symbol of our esteem | ||||||
| 22 | and respect.
