HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sam Ferri of 
4Norridge, on being part of the Team USA 15U national team that 
5won the 2013 Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) 15U 
6Pan American Championship; and
  
 
  
7    WHEREAS, Team USA is comprised of the best baseball players 
8in the country and Sam Ferri, a sophomore at Notre Dame College 
9Prep in Niles, was the only resident of Illinois to earn a spot 
10on the team; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sam Ferri was Team USA's starting catcher and 
12earned the trust of the team's coaching staff with his top 
13defensive skills and his advanced understanding of the position 
14that he plays; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Team USA went 8 and 0 during its championship run 
16from July 27-August 4, 2013 in Barranquilla, Colombia; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, On August 4, Team USA defeated Cuba 6 to 1 in the 
18championship game and earned the gold medal; and
  
 
  
19    WHEREAS, Sam Ferri has proven himself to be one of the 
20country's elite baseball players and has brought great honor to

1the State of Illinois through his hard work and dedication to 
2his sport, and by winning a gold medal in the Pan American 
3Championship; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Sam Ferri on winning the 2013 Pan American 
7Baseball Confederation (COPABE) 15U Pan American Championship 
8with his team and wish him the best with all his future 
9endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Sam Ferri as an expression of our esteem and 
12respect.
