| 2 | | WHEREAS, Gang violence is recognized as a growing global |
| 3 | | epidemic that is affecting people of every age, race, culture, |
| 4 | | gender, and financial background; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois and the Rusty Keeble |
| 6 | | Foundation are working to help achieve a gang free America |
| 7 | | through the GANGFREE campaign by providing assistance and |
| 8 | | support for evidenced based prevention and intervention |
| 9 | | programs, public forums for community discussions, |
| 10 | | professional development training, effective enforcement, and |
| 11 | | intelligence sharing; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Illinois and the Rusty Keeble Foundation's |
| 13 | | GANGFREE project will be celebrating the month of November |
| 14 | | 2013, during which communities and criminal justice |
| 15 | | professionals within all disciplines throughout the State will |
| 16 | | take a stand against gangs and the threat they pose to public |
| 17 | | safety; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, This year's GANGFREE month will promote the |
| 19 | | benefits of prevention, intervention, and enforcement within |
| 20 | | our communities, schools, jails, and prisons; this observance |
| 21 | | will educate the community on gang violence and how it can be |
| 22 | | eradicated through a joint effort of a committed community; |
