HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate St. Paul United 
4Church of Christ in Barrington on the occasion of the 150th 
5anniversary of its founding; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, St. Paul United Church of Christ was founded in 
71863; it was originally known as the United St. Paul's Church 
8at Barrington and, reflecting the roots of the German 
9immigrants settled in the area, 3 services a month were held in 
10German and one in English; it was once part of the German 
11Evangelical Reformed Church; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1960, it joined the United Church of Christ; 
13and
  
 
  
14    WHEREAS, A cemetery walk at St. Paul Cemetery will take 
15place on October 13, 2013 to celebrate the 150th anniversary, 
16which will include  stories of the cemetery's first burial, 
17in-costume actors telling tales of the Civil War veterans laid 
18to rest there, and the historic burial of a time capsule 
19highlighting the sesquicentennial of the church; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The 150th anniversary celebration luncheon will 
21take place on November 3, 2013 at the Biltmore Country Club in

1Barrington; it will include special guests, historical 
2pictorials, and live music; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate St. Paul United Church of Christ  on its 150th 
6anniversary and wish the congregation many more successful 
7years; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to St. Paul United Church of Christ as an expression 
10of our esteem and respect.
