HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives value the safety of the hundreds of Capitol 
4employees and the citizens who come to visit their State 
5Capitol; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
7Representatives honor and thank the Illinois Secretary of State 
8Police for their outstanding work and dedication to protecting 
9the Capitol and those who visit and work in the Capitol; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Illinois' talented and devoted Secretary of State 
11officers are stationed at every public entrance, where they 
12operate metal detectors for visitors without State-issued 
13badges; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Due to the recent beautiful renovations at the 
15State Capitol, Secretary of State officers no longer have the 
16visibility needed to ensure safety to all who visit the 
17Capitol; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, To ensure that the upmost security precautions and 
19safety measures are being taken, cameras should be installed 
20outside of every Capitol door; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we urge the Secretary of State and the Architect of the Capitol 
4to install security cameras outside the doors of the Capitol to 
5allow the officers to proactively search for security risks and 
6actively protect and serve the citizens of this State; and be 
7it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
9delivered to the Secretary of State and the Architect of the 
10Capitol.
