HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Allsopp on the 
4occasion of his retirement after 35 years with the Federal 
5Government, 34 with the National Weather Service; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jim Allsopp has been with the National Weather 
7Service Chicago Forecast Office located in Romeoville at Lewis 
8Airport since 1991; he has been serving as the Warning 
9Coordination Meteorologist, the only person to hold that 
10position at the Chicago office since it was created, partly in 
11response to the 1990 Plainfield tornado; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Allsopp has been involved in a wide range of 
13activities related to severe weather warning, public 
14education, and many other areas; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Jim Allsopp was born in Hinsdale and currently 
16resides in Channahon; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, An open house will be held to honor Jim Allsopp at 
18the National Weather Service Office on November 22, 2013 and a 
19party will be held on December 7, 2013 at Al's Steakhouse to 
20celebrate his retirement; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Jim Allsopp on his retirement from the National 
4Weather Service and the Federal Government and wish him the 
5best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Jim Allsopp as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
