2 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government Foundation, Inc. was started |
3 | | in 1988 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nationwide organization to |
4 | | serve women state legislators and to provide leadership |
5 | | opportunities, networking, expert forums, and educational |
6 | | resources to address and resolve complex policy issues; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government began and continues to work in |
8 | | a non-partisan manner to serve all women legislators; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, In 1998, there were 1,176 women serving in their |
10 | | state legislatures, making up only 15.8% of state legislators; |
11 | | today, there are 1,788 women legislators, making up 24.2% of |
12 | | state legislators; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government has served thousands of bold |
14 | | and passionate legislative leaders in all 50 states; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government leads the nation with a bold, |
16 | | courageous, and passionate vision that empowers and mobilizes |
17 | | all women legislators to effect sound policy; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government has worked extensively to |
19 | | advance policy for improvements at the local, state, and |
20 | | national levels; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government provides a neutral platform |
2 | | for bringing women policymakers together to share information |
3 | | and seek solutions to timely issues; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government holds over 20 educational |
5 | | conferences a year on a myriad of public policy issues for |
6 | | women state legislators; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government's website hosts several |
8 | | Policy Resource Centers that address childhood obesity, care |
9 | | coordination, public health, pulmonary hypertension, |
10 | | biomedical policy, oncology, diabetes, economic security and |
11 | | opportunities, and autoimmune diseases; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government has been recognized and |
13 | | received numerous accolades for policy work in health care, |
14 | | energy, family and child welfare, public health, and education; |
15 | | and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Women In Government will continue to assist and |
17 | | educate women leaders on current policy issues through |
18 | | nationwide conferences, workshops, summits, public service |
19 | | announcements, toolkits, policy resource centers, and other |
20 | | resources; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
2 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
3 | | we recognize Women In Government Foundation, Inc. and their |
4 | | current 1,788 women state legislative members on their |
5 | | outstanding work to promote policy education across the nation; |
6 | | and be it further
