HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of  Jack D. 
4West, who passed away on December 18, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack West was born on October 23, 1946 in Herrin; 
6his parents were Dean and Vada (nee Newton) West; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Jack West served his country as a member of the 
8United States Navy and served 2 tours in Vietnam; he was also a 
9lifetime member of the Marion Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack West worked for the Marion Police Department 
11for 29 years, retiring at the rank of sergeant; in 2007, he 
12began working as a courtroom security guard for the Williamson 
13County Sheriff's Office; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Jack West was preceded in death by his parents; 
15his son, Brian West; and his sister, Judy Gordon; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack West is survived by his wife, Debbie West; 
17his son, Jerry (Melissa) West; his grandchildren, Rebecca West, 
18Katelyn West, Shelby Crites, Steven D. West, and Stephanie 
19West; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Barbara 
20Travelstead; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and

1Joy Travelstead; and his 3 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of 
5Jack D. West; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Jack West as an expression of our 
8sympathy.
