| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Pete |
| 4 | | Crumpton, who passed away on January 24, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Pete Crumpton was born on August 26, 1961 in |
| 6 | | Chicago; his parents were Lander Crumpton, Jr. and Symathew |
| 7 | | Crater-Crumpton; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Pete Crumpton confessed a hope in Christ at an |
| 9 | | early age at Fernwood United Methodist Church; he was an active |
| 10 | | member of St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church (Anglican) |
| 11 | | for 10 years; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Pete Crumpton attended Percy L. Julian High School |
| 13 | | and Kennedy King College; as a youth, he was very active in 4-H |
| 14 | | Clubs, where he won many awards and served as a counselor at |
| 15 | | the yearly 4-H Camp at Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see in Manteno; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, As a teen, Pete Crumpton took an interest in |
| 17 | | politics; he studied political organizing at Chicago Black |
| 18 | | United Communities under the tutelage of Lu and Jorja Palmer at |
| 19 | | the encouragement of Rev. Al Sampson; he subsequently worked on |
| 20 | | several campaigns for various politicians over the years, |
| 21 | | including Monica Faith Stewart, Paul Simon, Carol Moseley |
