HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gary Bitler on the 
4occasion of his retirement as Round Lake Beach Police Chief; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Gary Bitler joined the Round Lake Beach 
7Police Department on January 8, 1979 when high-tech was a pen, 
8paper, and police radio; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Over his 35-year career, Chief Gary Bitler has 
10become the department's most decorated officer and was named 
11Police Officer of the Year in 1988 and 1992; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Chief Gary Bitler is credited with saving  the life 
13of a fellow officer  when his partner  was wounded in the line of 
14duty; he has closed numerous cases and saved the lives of 3 
15people during his career; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, Chief Gary Bitler is married with 2 children and 
17lives in McHenry County; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
19NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we congratulate Gary Bitler on his retirement as Round Lake
