HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Vicki Haugen for her contributions to the community and congratulate her on her induction into the Vermilion Advantage Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, The 1980s were a tumultuous time for Danville and Vermilion County and a small group of local leaders came together to discuss what could be done to start turning things around; and

WHEREAS, Vicki Haugen was hired to work for the Economic Development office, and when the director left, she stepped-up and took over; more than 30 years later she is still changing the economic face of Vermilion County; and

WHEREAS, Vicki Haugen led the charge for development in both Eastgate and Southgate and she recruited businesses such as Alcoa and Fiberteq to come to the community when they could have located anywhere; and

WHEREAS, Vicki Haugen has served on numerous boards, including the United Way and its campaigns, Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, and many others and she mentors with Big Brother/Big Sisters; and

WHEREAS, Vicki Haugen has always been available to those who need her help; she has a staff that respects her and is willing to respond to whatever needs to be done, whenever it needs to be; she always has and always will support existing business and industry; and

WHEREAS, Vicki Haugen will be inducted into the Vermilion Advantage Hall of Fame on March 16, 2014; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Vicki Haugen for her contributions to the community and congratulate her on her induction into the Vermilion Advantage Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Vicki Haugen as an expression of our esteem and respect.
