HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Stacey 
4Creasy; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy was born on December 24, 1958; his 
6parents were Lois (Egerton) and Donald Creasy; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy was a well-respected journalist who 
8had served as a reporter and editor of newspapers in Illinois 
9and Indiana, including the Macomb Journal, Indianapolis Star, 
10and South Bend Tribune; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy most recently served as the editor 
12at the Fulton County Democrat, where he worked since March of 
132009; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy was respected as one of the finest 
15journalists by the people he covered; he was known to always be 
16fair and accurate and was known to ask the tough questions and 
17hold elected officials accountable for their answers; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy succumbed to a short battle with 
19cancer on February 23, 2014; and

1    WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy is survived by his parents; his 
2brother, Stanley (Renea) Creasy; his sisters, Shelley Belden 
3and Shawnna (James) Schertz; his children, Jeremy (Kathy) 
4Creasy and Alexandria (Nick) Bricker; and his 4 granddaughters; 
5therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we mourn the passing of Stacey Creasy and extend our sincere 
9condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
10him; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Stacey Creasy and the Fulton County 
13Democrat as an expression of our deepest sympathy and esteem 
14for the life and career of Stacey Creasy.
