2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ralph |
4 | | Edwin Gussarson of Antioch, who passed away on March 11, 2014; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson was born on May 2, 1925 to Hugo |
7 | | and Edith (nee Olson) Gussarson; he graduated from Antioch High |
8 | | School in 1942 and joined the United States Navy in 1943, |
9 | | serving in the South Pacific during World War II; he was |
10 | | discharged in 1946 and married Ruthella Keister at the United |
11 | | Methodist Church in Antioch on October 8, 1949; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson retired as a diecast machinist in |
13 | | 1982 from the Outboard Motor Corporation in Waukegan; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson was a charter and life-member of |
15 | | the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4551 in Antioch, where he |
16 | | was Bingo Chairman; he was also a life-member of the American |
17 | | Legion Post #771 in Gurnee; in 1954, he joined the Antioch |
18 | | Moose Lodge #525 and received a Fellowship Decree and served as |
19 | | Governor from 1989 to 1991; he had served as past-President of |
20 | | the Antioch Township Republican Club, Precinct #2 |
21 | | committeeman, Alderman of Felter's Subdivision, and Antioch |
22 | | Beautification Committee member; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson enjoyed gardening and playing |
2 | | golf; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson was preceded in death by his |
4 | | parents, and by his brother, Otto Gussarson; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Gussarson is survived by his wife, of nearly |
6 | | 65 years, Ruthella; his children, Bruce (Angela), Joan (Troy) |
7 | | Shea, Daryl "Duffy" (Arlene), LuAnn (Alfred) Ultes, and Alan |
8 | | (Caryn); his grandchildren, Tricia Fandre, Lisa Chavez, Adam |
9 | | Chavez, Kristy Gussarson, Jennifer Gussarson, Jason Ultes, |
10 | | Jeffrey Ultes, Daryl Renee Gussarson, and Michael Gussarson; |
11 | | his 23 great-grandchildren; his 5 great-great-grandchildren; |
12 | | his sister, Ruth Winfield; and several nieces, nephews, and |
13 | | friends; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
15 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
16 | | we mourn the passing of Ralph Edwin Gussarson, and extend our |
17 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
18 | | and loved him; and be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Ralph Gussarson as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy.
