HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts 
4show; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS,  Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world's premier 
6traditional Chinese dance and music company; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Shen Yun introduces audiences to a world of 
8heavenly realms, ancient heroes, and the themes of virtue, 
9compassion, and courage; and
 
10    WHEREAS, For 5,000 years of Chinese history, China's 
11divinely imparted culture, including Chinese dance, music, and 
12other art forms, was continuously refined as its elegance 
13developed; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Shen Yun show aims to be a showcase of 
15traditional Chinese culture, a platform for cross-cultural 
16understanding between the East and West, and a unifying event 
17for all people interested in Chinese culture and performing 
18arts; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois prides itself on having a 
20thriving arts community, as well as audiences that truly

1appreciate the beauty of our diversity; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Shen Yun shows will be held in at the Civic Opera 
3House in Chicago on April 2-5, 2014, the Sangamon Auditorium in 
4Springfield on April 8, 2014, and the Braden Auditorium in 
5Normal on April 13, 2014; the shows are  sponsored by the 
6Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association, an organization dedicated to 
7the promotion and practice of the principles of "Truthfulness, 
8Compassion, and Tolerance" and endeavors to extend far and wide 
9these most precious and noble human ideals, and by Sound of 
10Hope Radio, an independent Chinese-language media company and a 
11not-for-profit organization dedicated to facilitating 
12cross-cultural communications between the East and West and 
13assisting the public in their search for valuable cultural 
14knowledge; therefore, be it


  
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
16NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
17we honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe, thank them for 
18their visits to the State of Illinois, and wish them continued 
19success in all their endeavors; and be it further
  
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
21presented to the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe as a symbol of 
22our respect and esteem.
