| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate David Lee Eanes on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement from Thornridge High School in | ||||||
| 5 | Dolton; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, David Eanes teaches Beginning Band, Jr. Varsity | ||||||
| 7 | Band, Varsity Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, | ||||||
| 8 | Flag Team, Pit Band, and Pep Band for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th | ||||||
| 9 | grades; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of David Eanes, Thornridge | ||||||
| 11 | High School students have had opportunities to participate in | ||||||
| 12 | competitions all over the world, taking first place in many of | ||||||
| 13 | them; he practices with them day and night and has instilled a | ||||||
| 14 | strong work ethic that helps them master their art and obtain | ||||||
| 15 | scholarships to attend prestigious colleges and universities | ||||||
| 16 | worldwide; in the past 5 years, 87 of his students have won | ||||||
| 17 | full-college music scholarships; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, David Eanes often works extra hours to give his | ||||||
| 19 | students the edge they need to succeed; after teaching summer | ||||||
| 20 | school, he holds a leadership camp each July for all students | ||||||
| 21 | wishing to become leaders in the music program; in the fall he | ||||||
| 22 | spends almost every night helping his bands prepare for | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | auditions and festivals such as the Illinois Music Education | ||||||
| 2 | Association Allstate Convention, the Illinois High School | ||||||
| 3 | Association Solo Ensemble, and the SICA Band Festival; he holds | ||||||
| 4 | instrumental clinics and organizes a Market Day Fundraiser; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, David Eanes worked at Mendel Catholic High School | ||||||
| 6 | for 10 years before taking a position at Thornridge High School | ||||||
| 7 | where he has been for the last 21 years; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, David Eanes earned his Bachelor of Science in | ||||||
| 9 | Music Education from Grambling State University and his Master | ||||||
| 10 | of Arts in Music Education from the VanderCook College of | ||||||
| 11 | Music; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Due to David Eanes' many years of outstanding | ||||||
| 13 | service to his students, the Student Board of Education is | ||||||
| 14 | working to rename a portion of Thornridge High School in his | ||||||
| 15 | honor; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we congratulate David Lee Eanes on his retirement from | ||||||
| 19 | Thornridge High School and wish him the best in all his future | ||||||
| 20 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
