HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Rock Valley 
4College men's basketball team, the Golden Eagles, on winning 
5the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) 
6national championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Golden Eagles were nationally ranked for much 
8of the season and claimed their first ever championship with 
9wins over Nassau Community College (NY), Brookdale Community 
10College (NJ), and Caldwell College (NC); and
  
 
  
11    WHEREAS, The 2013-2014 season saw the Golden Eagles compile 
12a record of 30 wins and 5 losses, the most wins in the men's 
13basketball program's history; and
  
 
  
14    WHEREAS, Head Coach Craig Doty, in his first season as the 
15men's head basketball coach at Rock Valley College in 
162012-2013, led his team to its first appearance in the NJCAA 
17tournament in over a decade and only 2nd over all, achieving a 
187th place finish; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Golden Eagles are DeSean Miller, LT Davis, 
20Frank Cimino, Tairhe Turner, Darius Brown, Jared Mayes, 
21DeOntray Austin, Keenan Franklin, Brandt Voiles, Jack

1Harrison, Sam Harrison, and Ben Grygiel; the assistant coaches 
2are Evan Lavery and Steve Goers; the trainer is Shannon Jones; 
3and the managers are Christian Hoeger and Jon Akins; therefore,

5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate the Rock Valley College men's basketball team, 
8the Golden Eagles, on winning the 2014 National Junior College 
9Athletic Association national championship; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles as an 
12expression of our esteem and respect.
