HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene Stenson, II of Santa Clarita, California, who passed away on March 22, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II was born in Peoria on July 15, 1943 to Eugene and Geraldine Stenson; he attended Bradley University in Peoria and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; he relocated to California in 1967 and married Naomi Pryor in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II retired in 1997 from the Nissan Corporation as the first African-American supervisor of Parts Distribution from overseas to dealerships throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Gino", Eugene Stenson, II enjoyed tennis, jazz, history, cooking, sports, fine-arts, hosting cookouts, and making floral arrangements; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Douglas Norvell, and by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II is survived by his wife of 23 years, Naomi; his daughters, Felicia Yvonne Stenson and Minci Sekou Stenson; his son, Darin Christopher Pryor; his granddaughter, Imani Pryor; his brothers, John (Arie) Stenson and Caesar Stenson; his sisters, Mary Frances Turner, Yvonne (Rudolph) Booth, and Roberta Marshall; his mother-in-law, Carrie B. Barley; his 3 sisters-in-law; his 3 brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene Stenson, II, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Stenson, II as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
