HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  the members of the Whitney 
4Young High School boys basketball team on the occasion of 
5winning the IHSA Class 4A State Tournament; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Whitney Young High School boys basketball team 
7defeated Lisle Benet 46-44 to achieve victory in the IHSA Class 
84A State Championship at Carver Arena in Peoria on March 29, 
92014; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Whitney Young High School boys basketball 
11team's victory marks the team's second Class 4A State title in 
126 seasons; and

  
 
13    WHEREAS, The members of the Whitney Young High School boys 
14basketball team are Lucas Williamson, Erwin Henry, Miles 
15Reynolds, Joseph Luzadder, Skyler Nash, Jeremaya Powell, Paul 
16White, Rodney Herenton, McKinley Nelson, Jahlil Okafor, 
17Christian Everett, Anthony Mosley, and Miles Baggett; the 
18team's head coach is Tyrone Slaughter and the assistant coaches 
19are Kevin Snider and Kevin Bush; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The members of the Whitney Young High School boys 
21basketball team serve as models of hard work, integrity, and

1dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore,

3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate the members of the Whitney Young High School 
6boys basketball team on the occasion of winning the IHSA Class 
74A State Tournament and wish them continued success and 
8happiness in the future; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the Whitney Young High School boys basketball team 
11as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
