HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the members of American Legion Post 338 on the occasion of the organization's 90th anniversary on April 16, 2014; and

WHEREAS, American Legion Post 338 was chartered on April 16, 1924; and

WHEREAS, American Legion Post 338 is involved with numerous activities and groups throughout the Westmont area, including Boy Scout troop activities, Little League baseball teams, the Memorial Day Parade and flag ceremony, Taste of Westmont, the Red, White, and BBQ Memorial Day event, the Veteran's Day ceremony at Ty Warner Park, various Westmont Chamber of Commerce events, and the Westmont 911 Ceremony; and

WHEREAS, American Legion Post 338 members routinely assist veterans with transportation to Hines Veterans Administration Hospital and other medical facilities; the Post also sponsors the American Legion School Award Program, which honors selected students under Patriotism and Citizenship at Cass Junior High School and Eisenhower Junior High School in Darien and Westview Hills Middle School and Westmont Junior High School in Westmont; the Post also supports students at Westmont Senior High School through its Scholarship Program; and

WHEREAS, The members of American Legion Post 338 serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of American Legion Post 338 on the occasion of the organization's 90th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to American Legion Post 338 as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
