HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dennis Carpenter 
4on the occasion of his retirement as police chief of the 
5Village of South Roxana; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Carpenter attended the police academy at 
7Southwestern Illinois College; he started with the South Roxana 
8Police Department in 1978 as a part-time officer  and was hired 
9full-time in 1984; he was appointed chief of police in 1986; 
10and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, While serving as chief of police, Chief Carpenter 
12also served as the zoning director, economic development 
13director, and village administrator; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Chief Carpenter's leadership has helped solve 
15crimes including, kidnapping, drug dealing, sex offenses, 
16domestic battery, and heroin overdoses; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, It was under Chief Carpenter's leadership that the 
18South Roxana Police department solved the single murder that 
19has occurred since the village's incorporation; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Chief Carpenter is married to South Roxana Village

1Clerk, Tina Carpenter, and together they have 4 children and 6 
2grandchildren; in retirement, he plans to travel, hunt, fish, 
3and garden; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Dennis Carpenter on the occasion of his 
7retirement as police chief of the Village of South Roxana, and 
8wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Chief Carpenter as an expression of our esteem and 
12respect.
