HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to honor Robert Lupo on the occasion of 
4his retirement as superintendent of Ridgewood High School 
5District 234, which serves Norridge and Harwood Heights; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Richard Lupo has been superintendent since 2003; 
7prior to that time he served as an English teacher, Curriculum 
8Coordinator, and
Assistant Superintendent; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Lupo's teaching career began in 1975 after 
10his graduation from Northwestern
University with a Bachelor of 
11Science in Secondary English Education; he holds a master's 
12degree in
English Literature and a doctorate in Instructional 
13Technology from Northern Illinois University; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Lupo reached out to the student body at 
15Ridgewood High School and beyond in his blog, "The
Rebel Yell", 
16which provided his educational insights; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Lupo was instrumental in working with the 
18O'Hare Noise Compatibility
Commission as well as with members 
19of the local, State, and federal governments to secure the 
20largest
FAA grant for a school sound abatement project in the 
21agency's history thereby improving the quality of life at

1Ridgewood High School; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Lupo was at the helm when Newsweek Magazine 
3ranked Ridgewood High School in the top 2,000 public high 
4schools in the United States, and the Washington Post named 
5Ridgewood as one of America's most challenging high schools; 
6these rankings placed Ridgewood in the top 10% of high schools 
7in the State and the nation; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Lupo, who is a Ridgewood High School 
9alumnus, will retire on June 30, 2014; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we honor Robert Lupo on the occasion of his retirement as 
13superintendent of Ridgewood High School District 234, and wish 
14him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Robert Lupo as an expression of our esteem and 
17respect.
