HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dan Schimmel on the 
4occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the Buffalo 
5Grove Park District; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel has worked in parks and recreation 
7for 24 years and has held the position of Executive Director of 
8the Buffalo Grove Park District for the past 4 years; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel helped build the fitness center in 
101999 and the golf center in 2000, and he oversaw the 
11approximately 14-year overhaul of the Busch Grove space into 
12Rylko Park, which now holds the farmers market and a water 
13playground; under his guidance, the district has agreed to 
14purchase Congregation Beth Am's building, and is converting it 
15into a performing arts center; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel got his start in parks and recreation 
17as a volunteer; while a student at Marine West High School he 
18became a swim instructor, and then a lifeguard; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel's retirement becomes effective in 
20December of 2014; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Dan Schimmel on his retirement as Executive 
4Director of the Buffalo Grove Park District, and wish him the 
5best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Dan Schimmel as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
