| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Fairmount Park is a horse racetrack located in the | ||||||
| 3 | City of Collinsville in Madison County; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Fairmount Park has entertained horse racing | ||||||
| 5 | enthusiasts since the opening of the race track in 1925; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Fairmount Park serves as an economic engine for | ||||||
| 7 | the City of Collinsville and the Metro
East; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Fairmount Park directly employs 400 individuals | ||||||
| 9 | and indirectly employs 600 individuals; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Fairmount Park conducted over 230 horse races in | ||||||
| 11 | the 1990s, 65 races in 2013, and is
scheduled to conduct 52 | ||||||
| 12 | races in 2014; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1739, as amended, allows for the | ||||||
| 14 | creation of a casino in the City of
Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1739, as amended, allows for the | ||||||
| 16 | creation of 4 new riverboat casinos
located in each of the | ||||||
| 17 | following counties: Cook, Lake, Vermilion, and Winnebago; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1739, as amended, will allow | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | electronic gaming at each and every horse
racetrack throughout | ||||||
| 2 | Illinois, with the exception of Fairmount Park; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Proposed amendments to Senate Bill 1739 are | ||||||
| 4 | erroneous and unfair to Fairmount Park, the City of | ||||||
| 5 | Collinsville, local businesses, restaurants, hotels,
the horse | ||||||
| 6 | racing industry, and employees at Fairmount Park; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Fairmount Park should not be excluded in any | ||||||
| 8 | legislation which allows for electronic
gaming at racetracks in | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we urge the members of the General Assembly to include | ||||||
| 13 | Fairmount Park in any gaming bill which allows electronic | ||||||
| 14 | gaming at all racetracks in Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That
suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | delivered to the Illinois Gaming Board, Illinois Governor Pat
| ||||||
| 17 | Quinn, and Fairmount Park.
