HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. John Letts on the 
4occasion of his retirement as president of John Wood Community 
5College; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, John Letts earned his doctorate in higher 
7education management from New Mexico State University, his 
8master's degree in counseling and guidance from University of 
9Nebraska - Omaha, and his bachelor's degree in business 
10administration from Chadron State College; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, John Letts joined John Wood Community College in 
12August of 1988 as dean of student services; he became vice 
13president for student services in 2001; he subsequently served 
14the College as interim president from August of 1996 to 
15February of 1997 and from October of 2011 to January of 2012; 
16and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Prior to his tenure at John Wood Community 
18College, John Letts .served as director of housing and student 
19activities for Peru State College and dean of students and 
20director of housing and student activities at Sheridan College;

1    WHEREAS, John Letts serves as a model of hard work, 
2integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
3Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Dr. John Letts on the occasion of his 
7retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the 
8future; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to John Letts as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
