| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bishop Dr. | ||||||
| 4 | Reginald J. Saffo on the occasion of his 19th anniversary at | ||||||
| 5 | United Faith Missionary Baptist Church; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo's education includes: an Honors | ||||||
| 7 | Associate's Degree in Arts and a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree | ||||||
| 8 | from Aspen Christian College, a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree | ||||||
| 9 | from Governors State University, and a Master of Arts and | ||||||
| 10 | Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Ministry from Aspen Christian | ||||||
| 11 | Seminary; he also has completed specialized certification | ||||||
| 12 | studies with the Evangelical Teacher Training Association, | ||||||
| 13 | Billy Graham School of Evangelism, and The Stephen Oxford | ||||||
| 14 | Center for Biblical Preaching; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo worked several years in | ||||||
| 16 | transportation management with the BNSF Railway Company; he now | ||||||
| 17 | serves United Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo works for community betterment | ||||||
| 19 | through his leadership, affiliations, and partnership with the | ||||||
| 20 | Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle Transition Team, the | ||||||
| 21 | Cook County Land Bank Board of Directors, and the Bellwood | ||||||
| 22 | Library Board; he served as the Executive Director of the | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Proviso Township Minister's Alliance Network, Executive | ||||||
| 2 | Director of Proviso Action Committee, and Executive Director of | ||||||
| 3 | Interfaith Illinois; he is a member of the Chicago Bar | ||||||
| 4 | Association (Interfaith Committee), the Chicago Neighborhood | ||||||
| 5 | Initiative Advisory Board (Park National Bank), founder of the | ||||||
| 6 | Proviso Township Business Association, founder and Chancellor | ||||||
| 7 | of United Faith Christian Institute and Bible College, and | ||||||
| 8 | Regional Director of Aspen Theological Seminary Denver, | ||||||
| 9 | Colorado; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo is a recipient of the NAACP Medal of | ||||||
| 11 | Freedom award; he is the publisher of "Christian Formation | ||||||
| 12 | Principles", a text guide in the structured study of the Bible; | ||||||
| 13 | and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Bishop Saffo is married with 2 children, and | ||||||
| 15 | resides in Bellwood; he is a native Georgian and served our | ||||||
| 16 | country in the United States Air Force; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Bishop Saffo's 19th | ||||||
| 18 | anniversary will be held June 8, 2014 at United Faith | ||||||
| 19 | Missionary Baptist Church in Maywood; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 21 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 22 | we congratulate Bishop Dr. Reginald J. Saffo on his 19th | ||||||

| 1 | anniversary at United Faith Missionary Baptist Church and wish | ||||||
| 2 | him many more years of success; and be it further
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 4 | presented to Bishop Saffo as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 5 | respect.
