HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Michael Hoelscher of 
4Rockwood on the occasion of being named the August 2014 
5Illinois Veteran of the Month; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Illinois Veteran of the Month award honors the 
7work of military veterans whose contributions are above and 
8beyond the call of duty as volunteers at local, State, and 
9national levels and in support of fellow veterans and the 
10United States Armed Forces; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Michael Hoelscher served his country as a member 
12of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; as a 
13young airman, he was decorated for bravery and service in the 
14defense of Tan Son Nhut Air Base in May of 1968; and

  
 
15    WHEREAS, Following his service, Michael Hoelscher has 
16served his community and county as a law enforcement officer 
17and Sheriff; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Michael Hoelscher will be honored at the Illinois 
19Veteran of the Month ceremony on August 24, 2014 at the Du 
20Quoin State Fair Second Heat/Senior Center in DuQuoin; and

1    WHEREAS, Michael Hoelscher serves as a model of hard work, 
2integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
3Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate  Michael Hoelscher on the occasion of being 
7named the August 2014 Illinois Veteran of the Month and wish 
8him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Michael Hoelscher as a symbol of our esteem and 
12respect.
