HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize DuPage County on its 
4successful efforts to streamline county government; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, DuPage County's work to consolidate certain 
6government responsibilities  and eliminate others where 
7possible, has received national attention; it was honored with 
8the Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties 
9for the  initiative; the program was enacted in 2012 and has 
10saved the taxpayers a projected $80,000,000; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, DuPage County's efforts began with the passage of 
12Senate Bill 494 in the 98th Illinois General Assembly; SB 494 
13permitted the county to dissolve units of local government 
14whose governing body is appointed by the county board Chairman 
15or county executive; at the start, DuPage County had more than 
16400 governmental entities responsible for over $300,000,000 in 
17taxpayer funds; and
  
 

  
18    WHEREAS, DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin is 
19determined not to let up in the effort to streamline DuPage 
20County government and plans on continuing to combine or 
21eliminate additional governmental entities where possible;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we   recognize DuPage County on its successful efforts to 
4streamline county government; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin as an 
7expression of our esteem and respect.
