| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the Metro West Council of |
| 4 | | Government on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its |
| 5 | | founding; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government is a |
| 7 | | non-profit organization founded in November of 2004; it serves |
| 8 | | a
population of more than 750,000 in Kane, Kendall, and DeKalb |
| 9 | | Counties; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government fosters |
| 11 | | regional cooperation to address issues, including
managing |
| 12 | | growth, transportation, and water conservation, and the |
| 13 | | promotion of sustainable economic
development; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government provides a |
| 15 | | united voice for municipalities and serves as their advocate; |
| 16 | | it provides networking opportunities for area mayors and |
| 17 | | managers, which
allows them to share ideas and address common |
| 18 | | issues; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government serves its |
| 20 | | members and the region by:
promoting excellence in local |
| 21 | | government; evaluating the impact of pending State and federal |
|

| 1 | | legislation on municipalities; articulating municipal concerns |
| 2 | | and advocating municipal positions on local, regional,
State, |
| 3 | | and national issues; fostering intergovernmental communication |
| 4 | | and cooperation; providing research, technical assistance, |
| 5 | | training, and leadership development
opportunities to members; |
| 6 | | and addressing growth, transportation, and water conservation |
| 7 | | issues affecting the region; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government sponsors |
| 9 | | special programs and events to connect State and federal
|
| 10 | | elected officials with local officials and community leaders, |
| 11 | | such as the Legislative Breakfast,
the Springfield Drive Down, |
| 12 | | the State of the Counties Luncheon, Orientation Seminars for
|
| 13 | | Newly-Elected Officials, and the Legislative Barbeque and |
| 14 | | Session Review; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 17 | | we recognize the Metro West Council of Government on its 10th |
| 18 | | anniversary and wish them many more successful years; and be it |
| 19 | | further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the Metro West Council of
Government Board of |
| 22 | | Directors and to the Mayor or Village President of each member
|
| 23 | | municipality as an expression of our esteem and respect.
