HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  David "Buff" Livesay on 
4the occasion of his retirement as Sheriff of the Union County 
5Sheriff's Office on November 30, 2014; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, David Livesay was born on August 24, 1963 in Anna; 
7his parents are Ed and Barb Livesay; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, David Livesay is a lifelong resident of Union 
9County; he graduated from Wolf Lake Grade School and Shawnee 
10High School in Wolf Lake and subsequently graduated from the 
11University of Illinois Police Training Institute in 1983; and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Livesay began his career in public service 
13in May of 1983, when he joined the Union County Ambulance 
14Service; in May of 1984, he joined the City of Jonesboro Police 
15Department, where he served until he joined the Union County 
16Sheriff's Office as a Deputy on June 1, 1985; on December 1, 
172000, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant; on December 1, 
182006, he was promoted to Sheriff, where he remained until his 
19retirement; he was also one of the founding members of the 
20Union County Rescue Squad on June 1, 1994; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, David Livesay is a faithful member and Trustee of

1Galilee Baptist Church in Wolf Lake; he is also a member of the 
2FFA Alumni, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Masonic Lodge, 
3the Southern Illinois Police Chief's Association, the Illinois 
4Police Association, and the Illinois Sheriffs' Association; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, David Livesay married Mindy Ballance on May 27, 
71989; together, they have 2 children, Andrew Livesay and Abbey 
8Livesay; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, David Livesay serves as a model of hard work, 
10integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
11Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
14we congratulate David "Buff" Livesay on the occasion of his 
15retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the 
16future; and be it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to David Livesay as a symbol of our esteem and 
19respect.
