| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Edward McKenney on | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the "2014 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from | ||||||
| 5 | the Illinois Rural Health Association; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across | ||||||
| 7 | our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural | ||||||
| 8 | settings; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, In 1977, Dr. McKenney graduated from the Chicago | ||||||
| 10 | College of
Osteopathic Medicine; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. McKenney is Board Certified in Emergency | ||||||
| 12 | Medicine; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, In 1978, Dr. McKenney joined the staff at Memorial | ||||||
| 14 | Hospital in Carthage; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Dr. McKenney has paved the way for expansion of | ||||||
| 16 | health care access to residents of Hancock County, at one time | ||||||
| 17 | running 3 different clinics; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dr. McKenney services Memorial Hospital in many | ||||||
| 19 | ways; he provides ER coverage, assists in surgery, provides his | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | own diagnostic screenings, and is a valued member of the | ||||||
| 2 | Memorial Hospital Board; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Dr. McKenney has earned a reputation among his | ||||||
| 4 | peers as an excellent diagnostician, an outstanding teacher and | ||||||
| 5 | mentor, and "the best heart guy around"; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. McKenney is known by his patients for his | ||||||
| 7 | compassionate bedside manner, which even includes making house | ||||||
| 8 | calls; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, the patient care and | ||||||
| 10 | expertise that Dr. McKenney provides has become vital to area | ||||||
| 11 | residents; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we commend Dr. Edward McKenney for his selfless service to his | ||||||
| 15 | community and the impact he has made on improving rural health | ||||||
| 16 | and we congratulate him on receiving the "2014 Rural Physician | ||||||
| 17 | of Excellence Award; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Dr. McKenney as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 20 | esteem.
