| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Elry Faulkner on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as Johnson County Sheriff after 40 |
| 5 | | years; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Faulkner is the longest-serving sheriff |
| 7 | | in the State; he began his career in law enforcement as a |
| 8 | | part-time officer for the Vienna Police Department in 1968; in |
| 9 | | 1970, he joined the Johnson County Sheriff's Office; he |
| 10 | | returned to the Vienna Police Department in 1973; in 1974, he |
| 11 | | was elected Johnson County Sheriff; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Faulkner was elected president of the |
| 13 | | Illinois Sheriffs' Association Southern Zone in 1986 and as |
| 14 | | president of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association in 1994; he was |
| 15 | | sworn in as a member of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association |
| 16 | | Executive Board in 1987 and has served on the Board ever since; |
| 17 | | and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Faulkner was awarded the Medal of Valor in |
| 19 | | 1994 by the Illinois Sheriffs' Association for his arrest of |
| 20 | | and altercation with the escaped federal prisoner who shot him |
| 21 | | in 1979; and
