HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of David L. "Monty" Rea of Whittington, who passed away on October 15, 2014; and

WHEREAS, David Rea was born on April 5, 1957 in Benton; his parents were David R. and Carole (nee Taylor) Rea; he married Marsha (nee Whittington) Rea on August 4, 1979 in Benton; and

WHEREAS, David Rea was in the original group that organized the Ewing-Northern Fire Protection District and was the only chief of the District from 1992 until his passing; he began coal mining in 1979 and most recently worked at the Night Hawk Coal Company; he was also an 18-year member of the Ewing-Northern Grade School Board and was a member of the Ewing Township Board from 1982 until his passing; and

WHEREAS, David Rea was a member of Whittington Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, David Rea enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons; and

WHEREAS, David Rea was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Noel Whittington, and his grandparents, Verbal and Anna Belle Rea and Kenneth and Viola Taylor; and

WHEREAS, David Rea is survived by his wife, Marsha; 2 daughters, Whitney (Johnny) Winstead and Haley (Cory) Smith; 3 grandchildren, Bentley Rea Smith, Blakely Pavin Smith, and Sawyer Michael Winstead; his parents, David and Carole Rea; a sister, Diana (Keith) Ing; his mother-in-law, J. Irene Whittington; a grandmother, Edith Taylor; a brother-in-law, Mike (Donna) Whittington; and 4 nieces and nephews, Marci, Eric, Lindsay, and Nathaniel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of David L. "Monty" Rea; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Rea as an expression of our sympathy.
